Call for Mentees for the @MigrationSpotlight Project

The project “Migrant and Refugee Support for Cultivating inter-cultural competences” (@MigrationSpotlight) 2018-1-BG01-KA204-047941 is an Erasmus+ EU-funded initiative that aims to train-the-trainer to enhance intercultural competences in refugee and migrant workers (e.g. social workers, civil servants, advisors and counselors, and other representatives of NGOs) using innovative and creative teaching/learning activities and materials. The training activities and materials are incorporated in four modules alongside the pillars of intercultural competences: 1) intercultural knowledge, 2) interpersonal skills, 3) team effectiveness, and 4) cultural empathy. The project consortium consists of partners across five EU countries, namely Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Belgium and Cyprus.

As part for our project, we call for practitioners working with migrant and refugee populations to voluntarily participate in our project as mentees in order to cultivate their personal intercultural competences. As a mentee you will be attached to a mentor who will act as your guide and adviser. Your mentors will provide you with knowledge, thoughts, reflections, insights and experiences as inspiration for your personal and professional growth in the field of refugee and migrant work. They will support, advise, challenge, motivate, guide, counsel, train and provide feedback on the areas of intercultural knowledge, interpersonal skills, team effectiveness, and cultural empathy through face-to-face, telephone, and online interaction.

Your participation in the @MigrationSpotlight project will guarantee your free access to mentoring, reflections on possible questions about refugee and migrant work, engagement in mentoring activities and resources, and online tutorials including recorded training sessions that you may discuss with your mentors during online sessions. All these materials and resources are developed by the project partners. Moreover, an online platform that hosts collaborative virtual environments will allow you to work together as a group with your mentor and other mentees to construct and share knowledge. This platform aims to connect mentors and mentees from the participating countries.
